Carol Melton

EVP for global public policy, Time Warner

Carol A. Melton became Time Warner's Executive Vice President for Global Public Policy in June 2005. She is responsible for overseeing Time Warner's public policy offices in Washington, D.C., London, Brussels and Hong Kong. As Time Warner's chief policy strategist, she works closely with all of the company's business units in managing issues connected to their domestic and international operations. Previously in her career, Ms. Melton until 1997 served at Time Warner as Vice President for Law and Public Policy, having joined the company initially as Washington Counsel for Warner Communications Inc. in 1987. From 1997 to 2005, Ms. Melton served at Viacom Inc. as a member of that company's senior management team. As Executive Vice President for Government Relations, she oversaw policy issues for all of Viacom's business operations, including CBS, Paramount, MTV Networks, Showtime and Simon & Schuster. Ms. Melton has also served as Legal Advisor to the Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission for cable, broadcast and other mass media issues. Prior to joining the FCC, she was Assistant General Counsel for the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) and a lawyer in the Washington, D.C. office of Hogan & Hartson. Ms. Melton earned a B.A. degree with honors from Wake Forest University, an M.A. in Journalism and Communications from the University of Florida, and a J.D. with honors from the Washington College of Law at American University.
