Bernie Noe becomes head of school
July 1, 1999
Known to everyone as Bernie, Bernard T. Noe became the head of Lakeside School in 1999. Prior to his arrival at Lakeside, Bernie served for seven years as both Upper School Principal and Assistant Head of School for International Education at Sidwell Friends School, in Washington, D.C.; he also taught a Western civilization class and promoted initiatives on educational excellence, diversity, and community expectations. In his time at Lakeside, the school has implemented a Mission Focus, created and developed a number of global programs including the Global Service Learning trips, begun and developed Summer School Programs, launched the Global Online Academy, renovated two of the main academic buildings on campus, and much more -- all while retaining an unwavering focus on the school's core values: academic excellence, global citizenship, and diversity and inclusion.
