Padrón President Emeritus, Miami Dade College Padrón has served since 1995 as president of Miami Dade College, which has more than 165,000 students and awards more degrees to Hispanics and African Americans than any other institution in the nation. In 2016, President Obama awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the US, for championing access and inclusion in higher education. Padrón previously chaired the American Council on Education and the Association of American Colleges and Universities, among other distinguished national boards.
