The 6,000-Hour Learning Gap In 1998, we were founded as The After-School Corporation and created the nation’s first citywide system of quality K-12 after-school programs. Today, we’ve built on that experience, and whether in school, after school or during the summer, we seek to ensure that all kids have opportunities to discover their talents and develop their full potential. While we work on the ground to support schools, we also work with partners of all kinds to change public policy and build sustainable public funding to expand learning opportunities across the nation. Through collaboration with school leaders, foundations and policy-makers, we are forging new ground nationally in reimagining the school day. We also have extensive experience evaluating a broad range of after-school programs. We use proven systems for quantitative and qualitative data collection that rely on empirically sound and validated instruments, analysis and reporting. For a decade, we’ve served as the external evaluator of more than 150 21st Century Community Learning Center programs, improving education for tens of thousands of kids throughout New York City.
