Michael Cohen is the president of Achieve, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit education organization that aims to help states improve their academic standards, assessments, accountability and graduation requirements. Previously, Cohen served as director of education policy at the National Governors Association and director of planning and policy development at the National Association of State Boards of Education. He also served as assistant secretary of elementary and secondary education at the U.S. Department of Education, a special assistant on education policy to President Bill Clinton, and a senior advisor to U.S. Education Secretary Richard Riley. |
