Notes Lea Soupata, a former United Parcel Service executive with almost four decades of leadership and management experience and decades of involvement in philanthropy has been named Chair of the Greek America Foundation’s Board of Directors. Retired from UPS in 2007 after 35 years of service, Lea served as Senior Vice President of Human Resources and managed a division that served more than 407,000 employees worldwide. A member of the UPS management committee since 1995 and the UPS board of directors since 1998, she oversaw the company’s strategy in training, developing, and retaining a diverse and highly skilled workforce. Lea also served as chair of the UPS Foundation, the company’s charitable arm, and was a board member of Junior Achievement of Georgia and the Morehouse School of Medicine. She also served as a member of the President’s Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations during the Bush Administration and the Clinton Administration’s Welfare to Work Initiative. She is currently a trustee of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, the world’s largest philanthropic foundation dedicated to helping disadvantaged children, and is a fellow of the National HR Academy. In addition to her appointment as Chair of the Greek America Foundation board of directors, she serves the Greek American community in numerous capacities including as a board member of St. Basil’s Academy, a children’s home in New York under the auspices of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.
