In 2010, Casey helped engineer an arrangement to install Buffalo Democrat Barbara Miller-Williams as chairwoman of the Erie County Legislature, even though she lacked the support of most of the other Democrats who formed the Legislature's majority bloc.
Casey, political agitator G. Steven Pigeon and Christopher M. Grant, chief of staff to the then-County Executive Chris Collins, plotted to deliver Miller-Williams the support of the Legislature's smaller Republic bloc so she could grab the Legislature's top spot and run a coalition friendly to the Republican Collins. |
