Notes Background Ms. Martha D. Lamkin served as President and Chief Executive Officer at Lumina Foundation for Education. Ms. Lamkin co-founded and serves as Chairman of the Central Indiana Community Foundation. She serves Vice President of Citizens Energy Group. Ms. Lamkin was instrumental in developing the concept of the Foundation during her tenure as executive vice president of Corporate Advancement at USA Group, Inc., which she joined in 1991. During her 30-year career, she also has served as President of Cummins Engine Company Foundation, Executive director of corporate responsibility and government affairs, Cummins Engine Company; Manager for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and Attorney with its of Lowe, Gray, Steele and Hoffman. She serves as Chairman of Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and The Indianapolis Foundation. She has been a member of the board of visitors of DePauw University and the President's Cabinet of Indiana University. She also has served as board member and chairman of the Christian Theological Seminary and as a board member of the Independent Colleges of Indiana, the Indianapolis Economic Development Corporation, the Indiana Fiscal Policy Institute, and the Hoosier Capital Girl Scouts of America Council Advisory Board. She serves as Vice Chairman of Citizens Energy Group (also known as Citizens Gas and Coke Utility Company, Inc.) and has been its Director since 1989. She served as Director of Lumina Foundation for Education and Citizens Energy Group. Ms. Lamkin also served on the board of directors of Meridian Mutual Insurance Company from 1988 to 2001 when it was sold to State Auto Insurance Company. In 1999, she was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Christian Theological Seminary (Indiana) and was cited as a distinguished alumna of Indiana University School of Law. She graduated summa cum laude from California Baptist University, received her master's degree in English and American Literature from Vanderbilt University and earned her law degree from Indiana University.
