Salym Petroleum Development NV was founded in 1996 as a joint venture between the Shell concern and the Russian oil company Evikhon (acquired by Gazprom Neft in the late 2000s) to develop the Salym group of fields .
The development of the Salym group of fields, including the Verkhnesalymskoye, Zapadno-Salymskoye and Vadelypskoye fields, began in September 2003 under the current tax regime. SPD has deployed works on the construction of infrastructure: roads, commercial reservoirs, camp, warehouses, power lines. In parallel, there was a preparatory stage of the drilling program.
In April 2004, the first production well was drilled, and
in August, SPD specialists drilled a prospecting well at the Veresalsalymskoye field, which opened the oil reservoir.
In December 2004, the company began production of oil from the first wells of the West Salym field. |
