Notes Supporting the Creation of an Evidence-Based Policymaking Commission Results for America and our Invest in What Works coalition members strongly supported the creation of the Commission on Evidence-Based Policymaking. The bipartisan Evidence-Based Policy Commission Act championed by U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) and U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) and signed into law by President Obama authorized the creation of a 15-member Commission to determine ways the federal government can “organize, protect, and analyze data to improve public policy.” Click to read Results for America’s primer and click here to read our two coalition letters submitted to the Commission on September 9, 2016 and July 25, 2017. On September 19, RFA submitted letters to Congress and the Trump Administration urging them to enact the recommendations in the Commission’s final report. On November 13, 2017, Results for America and the Invest in What Works Coalition sent a support letter to Congress expressing support for “Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act” (H.R. 4174 and S. 2046). The letter was signed by 108 organizations and individuals.
