RIASPA will begin scaling high-quality expanded learning opportunities for credit for high school students in Rhode Island to eight new school districts, while at the same time actively engaging other districts to participate and involving the current partner districts of Central Falls, Providence, and Woonsocket to help spread the work. RIASPA will work with the Rhode Island Department of Education to develop policy guidance that will be disseminated to school districts, as well as to develop policy strategies and incentives for districts that engage in this process. Additionally, it will connect this work to the work of the Governor's office on a statewide internship system, and identify and support statewide policies and practices that can assist efforts to further scale this project to at least half of Rhode Island school districts by the end of 2015. This work supports the proficiency-based elements of the state's high school graduation requirements. |
