Previously served as State Representative for Allston-Brighton area of Boston (1999-2005) at the same time that Gov. Walsh was a State Representative for the 13th Suffolk District (1997 - 2014). A member of the Army Reserves he has served in Iraq, Bosnia, and the Pentagon. Although a Democrat he endorsed G.W. Bush in 2000 and accepted appointments in Republican administrations: Governor Mitt Romney named him a commissioner of the Department of Telecommunications and Energy and he also served as a regional director of the US Department of Health and Human Services in the Bush administration (Boston Globe, Jan 08, 2014). |
