As a pollster, he conducts surveys and moderates focus groups on subjects spanning the race for the White House all the way to Hollywood movies. He is one of the country’s leading experts on electoral targeting, voter analytics, and political data-mining and is responsible for the microtargeting programs of presidential candidates, national organizations, and Fortune 10 companies. Alex is also a creator of political data visualizations and infographics, with his work featured by Wired Magazine, Fast Company, and the Washington Post. In 2012, Alex took a leave of absence from TargetPoint to work as the Director of Data Science for Mitt Romney's 2012 presidential campaign. There, his team was responsible for driving data-based decisions within the campaign through monitoring, integration, analysis, simulation and experimentation with the various data generated by departments like polling, strategy, digital, finance, and political. Prior to TargetPoint, Alex was a Senior Manager at the Luntz Research Companies, where he worked with Republican messaging guru Frank Luntz. Alex has served as an adjunct instructor of statistics in the Government Departments of both Georgetown and Johns Hopkins Universities, and in 2009, Politics Magazine named him a “Rising Star.” A New Jersey native, Alex has a Political Science degree from Swarthmore College, and a Masters of Public Policy from Georgetown University where he focused on public opinion research. Prior to his political life, he taught government and philosophy at a Philadelphia area high school. He currently lives in Washington DC with his wife, Julia, their three children, and their bearded collie, Danger! Dog.
