Douglas R. M. Nazarian was appointed Chairman of the Maryland Public Service Commission by Governor Martin O’Malley effective August 16, 2008. His term runs through June 30, 2013. He serves on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners, as President of the Eastern Interconnection States’ Planning Council, and as one of Maryland’s representatives on the Board of Directors of RGGI, Inc. He also served from 2008 to 2011 on the Board of Directors and Advisory Committee of the Organization of PJM States, Inc. (OPSI), and as OPSI President in 2009. Chairman Nazarian joined the Commission in 2007 as General Counsel after 15 years as a litigator, the last 12 with Hogan & Hartson L.L.P., where he also served as partner in charge of the firm’s Baltimore pro bono practice.
