Born in Shenyang, China in 1940; Professor Chang received his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from National Taiwan University in 1962, Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from Stanford University, USA in 1964, and Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University, USA in 1969. He has taught over 20 years in the United States and Canada, having served as Dean of School of Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh, Dean of School of Engineering of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Chairman of Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Southern California, and Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Physiology at McGill University in Canada. He was President and University Professor at City University of Hong Kong from 1996 to 2007; currently he is Yeh-Lu Xun Chair Professor at Peking University and Professor Emeritus of City University of Hong Kong.
