Launched in 2006 and based in Bellevue, Washington, Smartsheet.com is a privately-held Software as a Service (SaaS) provider that gives people a fast, easy way to get things done. Smartsheet makes teams more efficient and productive through an innovative easy-to-use online application. Before joining Smartsheet in 2007, Frei was executive vice president of Intellectual Ventures. Prior to this, Frei served as CEO of Onyx Software Corp., a Bellevue-based customer relationship management (CRM) software company he co-founded in 1994. After starting out at Motorola, the early part of Frei’s career was spent as a programmer analyst with Microsoft Corporation. In 2001, the Smithsonian Institute recognized Frei as a "Pioneer in Technology." In 1997, Ernst and Young named him an “Entrepreneur of the Year.” Frei received his bachelor's degree in engineering from Dartmouth's Thayer School of Engineering and a BA in engineering sciences from Dartmouth College.
