Mel Immergut is the former Chairman of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, having served in the role from 1995 to 2013. He has been a partner in the firm’s corporate group since 1980.He serves as a trustee and past president of the American College of Investment Counsel, a trustee of The Eye-Bank for Sight Restoration, Inc., and past president of The Billfish Foundation. Immergut is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the New York City Bar Association, and a fellow of the New York Bar Foundation. He serves as vice chairman and as a trustee of The Legal Aid Society. He is a member of the Columbia Law School dean's council and its board of visitors. Immergut also serves as a member of the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation Advisory Council, the Partnership for New York City and the Council on Foreign Relations. Additionally, he is a member of the United States European Command Advisory Panel and a former member of the United States Southern Command Advisory Panel. He is vice chairman and a trustee of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, and serves on the defense business board of the Department of Defense. He is a recipient of The Jewish Theological Seminary Simon H. Rifkind Award and The Legal Aid Society's Servant of Justice Award and received the 2013 Fund for Modern Court's John J. McCloy Memorial Award. Immergut received his J.D. and M.B.A. from Columbia University and his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
