Omar Marwan Asali

Mr. Omar Marwan Asali has been an Acting President of Harbinger Group Inc., since June 30, 2011 Mr. Asali serves as Managing Director, Head of Global Strategy, and Director of Investments at Harbinger Capital Partners. Prior to this, he was a Co-Head at Goldman Sachs Hedge Fund Strategies LLC. Mr. Asali was appointed at these positions on 26th March 2008 and also performed the responsibilities of Co-Principal Executive Officer. He was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs Asset Management in 2003, Mr. Asali was employed at Goldman Sachs' investment banking division, providing M&A and strategic advisory services to clients in the High Technology Group. He worked in private equity at Capital Guidance. Mr. Asali was the Head at GFS and a Portfolio Manager at West Street Partners. Mr. Asali has been a Director of Harbinger Group Inc., since May 12, 2011 He has also served as Director at Goldman Sachs Hedge Fund Strategies LLC. He started his career as a Certified Public Accountant working at a public accounting firm. Mr. Asali has 12 years of industry experience. He received an M.B.A. from Columbia University and a B.S. degree in Accounting from Virginia Tech. Mr. Asali was born in 1971.
