Gregg Walker

Gregg A. Walker joined Sony Corporation of America (SCA) in March 2009 as Senior Vice President for Corporate Development. Mr. Walker is responsible for helping to formulate and implement Sony’s corporate business strategy, working closely with key executives at Sony group companies worldwide. Mr. Walker has served on the Board of Directors of movie studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) and currently serves on the Board of Sony/ATV Music Publishing, a 50/50 joint venture established in 1995 between Sony and trusts formed by Michael Jackson. Prior to joining SCA, Mr. Walker was Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions at Viacom, where he helped lead numerous transactions, including BET’s acquisition of BET.com; MTV Networks’ acquisition of Harmonix, the developer of the hit video games Guitar Hero and Rock Band; MTV Networks’ sale of MTV Russia; and MTV Networks’ purchase of MTV Japan. Before Viacom, Mr. Walker was a Vice President at Goldman Sachs in the investment banking division, where he advised media and telecommunications clients regarding mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, equity and debt financing, and strategic alliances. During his near decade-long Goldman Sachs career, Mr. Walker was involved with the IPO of FairPoint Communications, the purchase of Prodigy by SBC Communications, the sale of Grey Global to WPP, the acquisition of Westinghouse’s power business by Siemens, and the acquisition of Verizon’s Hawaiian telecommunication assets by the Carlyle Group. Mr. Walker graduated magna cum laude from Washington University in 1994 and received a J.D. from Yale Law School in 1997. Today, Mr. Walker is a deacon at Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem in New York City and is the Chairman of the Board of the Harlem YMCA. He is also a member of the Board of Friends of Harlem Hospital and Harlem RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities). He is a former Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations (2003-2008), as well as a Foreign Policy Association Fellow.
