FRANKLIN L. KURY, ESQUIRE joined the firm in January 2004. He has over 30 years of experience as a state official and private lawyer on matters involving the Pennsylvania State government, including both the legislative and executive agencies. Throughout an acclaimed career, Franklin has provided counsel for clients in many sectors including Banking, Health, Labor and Industry, Insurance, Environmental Protection and Commerce and the Liquor Control Board, and he's lobbied both the House and Senate for legislation supporting clients who deal in these areas. A former Deputy Attorney General and member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (108th District of Northumberland and Montour Counties), Franklin spent 20 years as a partner and manager for the legal and government relations firm, Reed Smith LLP. While a senator for the state (1972-1980), Franklin's investigation of the PUC and consequent committee report was heralded by the Philadelphia Inquirer as the “best legislative report” in decades. As an author and chief sponsor of many reports with a focus on environmental reform while serving in the senate, Franklin's expertise is notable. Franklin is a 1961 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School and a 1958 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Trinity College. He has served in the United States Army and Army Reserves. Franklin and his wife, Elizabeth, have three sons and reside near Hershey. He enjoys golf, travel and the Spanish language.
