Uday Kotak

Started Kotak Mahindra Bank as small finance outfit in 1985, with industrialist Anand Mahindra. Now has 8 million customers, 300 branches and businesses ranging from private equity to life insurance. Reportedly, wants to buy another bank to expand footprint. Japan's Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp acquired a 4.5% stake for $294 million last June. Kotak Education Foundation, family's private trust, works with schools in Mumbai focusing on underprivileged students.
