CORY PROVOST, B.A., was elected the twenty-fifth Chairperson of the University Student Senate in November 22, 2009. Trustee Provost has devoted much of his undergraduate academic career to representing the needs of CUNY students through various leadership positions including President of Brooklyn College's NAACP, President of Brooklyn College's Mentoring Alliance, and a Student Government Assembly Representative. As such, he decided to continue his commitment to student advocacy upon entering Brooklyn College's Graduate Division. Mr. Provost is currently President of the Graduate Student Organization at Brooklyn College. During his tenure as an undergraduate student Trustee Provost helped to organize Brooklyn College's "Thanksgiving Feed the Homeless," and spent time in New Orleans with the People's Organizing Committee assisting in the rebuilding efforts following Hurricane Katrina. He has also played active roles in several communities through his work with New York State legislators. In 2007, Trustee Provost worked with New York State Senator Kevin Parker as a community events coordinator; in January 2009, he worked with New York State Assemblyman William Scarsborough to help develop the Million Father's Club, of which Mr. Provost is now a steering committee member. Currently pursuing a M.A. in Urban Policy and Administration at Brooklyn College, Trustee Provost hopes to move into a doctoral program at CUNY.
