Dr. Zeithaml is serving his fifth term as the Dean and F.S. Cornell Professor of Free Enterprise in the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia. He joined the McIntire School in 1997 after spending more than a decade at the Kenan-Flagler Business School of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He received a doctorate in strategic management from the University of Maryland, an M.B.A. from the University of Florida, specializing in health care management, and a B.A. in economics from the University of Notre Dame. Dean Zeithaml specializes in the field of strategic management with an emphasis on global and competitive strategy. He conducts research on international expansion strategies, knowledge-based sources of competitive advantage, corporate political activity, strategic decision making, the strategic role of the board of directors, the implementation of diversification strategies, and organizational transformation. Dean Zeithaml is a board member of Dollar Tree Stores, Inc. and previously served on the Management Oversight Committee of the Global Real Estate Special Opportunities Fund managed by Deutsche Bank. He is also a Professor in the Management Area specializing in strategic development. He joined the McIntire School in 1997, after 11 years on the faculty in the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Dr. Zeithaml became a director of Dollar Tree in July 2007.
