Brian Mulroney, Canada’s 18th prime minister, whose statesmanship on what he called “great causes,” from free trade and acid rain in North America to the overthrow of apartheid in South Africa, gave way to accusations of financial misdoing and influence-peddling after he left office, died on Thursday February 25 2024 in Palm Beach, Fla. He was 84. The Right Honourable Brian Mulroney has served as a director since our separation from Cendant in July 2006. Mr. Mulroney was a Cendant director from December 1997 until the completion of Cendant's separation plan in August 2006. Mr. Mulroney was Prime Minister of Canada from 1984 to 1993 and is currently Senior Partner in the Montreal-based law firm, Ogilvy Renault. Mr. Mulroney is a director of the following public companies: Archer Daniels Midland Company Inc., Barrick Gold Corporation, Blackstone Group, L.P., Hicks Acquisition Co. I, Inc., Independent News and Media, PLC, Quebecor, Inc. (including its subsidiaries, Quebecor World, Inc. and Quebecor Media, Inc.). Mr. Mulroney was a director of HFS from April 1997 until December 1997. Senior Partner in the law firm of Ogilvy Renault; Director of Barrick Gold Corporation, Quebecor Inc., Quebecor World, Inc., Wyndham Worldwide Corporation and Blackstone Group Management L.L.C. In addition to his daughter Caroline Mulroney - a cabinet minister in Ontario’s Progressive Conservative government, Mr. Mulroney’s survivors include his wife and his sons, Benedict, Mark and Nicolas.
