Michael Rothschild is president of The Bionomics Institute and author of Bionomics: Economy as Ecosystem. The Bionomics Institute applies the bionomic perspective -- the concept that a market economy works much like an evolving ecosystem -- to the critical problems facing corporations and governments. Michael Rothschild earned his law and MBA degrees simultaneously at Harvard. He began his career with the Boston Consulting Group. Consulting assignments exposed him to a broad array of challenging business problems; from evaluating acquisition candidates in the forest products industry to designing a new marketing strategy for a leading computer software firm. He has worked in industries as diverse as semiconductor fabrication, rail car leasing, plastics distribution, airport design, medical electronics, housing construction, and cosmetics marketing. Michael Rothschild wrote Bionomics, a book The Wall Street Journal called "Revolutionary," because he felt compelled to report the powerful new insights revealed by viewing the business world through the lens of evolutionary biology. As we shift from the Machine Age to the Information Age, bionomic thinking is becoming essential to understanding our economic future. Michael Rothschild travels extensively throughout the United States and around the world speaking to business and public policy audiences. He also writes regular columns for Upside, the nation's leading high-tech business magazine, and for Forbes ASAP, the new technology supplement to Forbes.
