Tom Love, who with his wife and business partner Judy, founded Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores, died at age 85 in his hometown of Oklahoma City on March 7 2023. In 1964, after dropping out of the University of Oklahoma, Tom Love and his wife Judy opened a gas station in Watonga, Oklahoma. A few years later, they launched a convenience store. Today Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores is a national empire with more than 300 locations in 39 states, featuring gas stations, convenience stores, fast food restaurants, showers and trucking supplies. The company is still family-owned and operated. Tom was chairman and CEO and three of the couple's four children work for the company. Love is survived by his wife of 62 years, Judy, his children Frank, Greg, Jenny and Laura, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and two more on the way.
