James Fallows, founding Chairman of New America’s Board of Directors, is a highly acclaimed author, journalist, editor, and media commentator. Currently a National Correspondent for The Atlantic Monthly and formerly Editor of U.S. News & World Report, Mr. Fallows is also well known to National Public Radio listeners through his weekly commentaries on Morning Edition in the 1980s and 1990s and now on Weekend All Things Considered. Mr. Fallows has authored several influential books, including Looking at the Sun, More Like Us, and National Defense, for which he won a National Book Award. His book, Breaking the News, helped sparked a much-needed national debate about the profound problems in American journalism. He won a National Magazine Award in 2003 and a NY Emmy for a documentary about China in 2010.
