He serves on the Board of Governors of the Jewish Agency for Israel and the American Joint Distribution Committee. Steve also chaired UJC's Human Services and Social Policy Pillar. He has served as President of the Atlanta Jewish Federation and served for three terms as its Campaign Chairman. Steve comes from a long line of dedicated and civic-minded philanthropists, his family well known for its commitment and service to the Jewish community. The federation is headquartered at the Selig Center, which was named for the Selig Family and dedicated in 1995 in memory of his parents. The Atlanta Chapter of the American Jewish Committee each year issues the Caroline Massell Selig and Simon S. Selig, Jr. Distinguished Service Award, also named in memory of his parents. Steve is the President and Chairman of the Board of Selig Enterprises, Inc., a real estate company based in Atlanta that owns and develops warehouse, office and retail space in Georgia, Florida and throughout the Southeast. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of AAA Parking, Inc. of Atlanta. Prior to this, he was a co-owner of Concert Southern Promotions, which brought a variety of famous musicians to the Atlanta area. Steve is a pillar of the Atlanta community in both Jewish and secular civic affairs, and he has held prominent posts on the national level as well. He currently serves on a number of boards and civic councils, including: the Board of Commissioners of the Atlanta Housing Authority; as Honorary Consul of Denmark in Atlanta, The Board of Trustees for the University of Georgia Foundation; Woodruff Arts Center; the Carter Center; Spelman College, the Board of Trustees for Wachovia Bank of Georgia. He is also past president of his synagogue as well as the Atlanta chapter of the American Jewish Committee. Steve was Chairman of the Host Committee for the Democratic National Convention in 1988, and he served as President Carter's Chief Liaison with the business community while in the White House from 1976 to 1980. He was voted one of the most 100 influential Georgians in the January, 2004 issue of the Georgia Trend Magazine. Together, Steve and his wife Linda have five children and eleven grandchildren.
