Dr. Teruaki Aoki is executive managing director of the Sony Foundation for Education. Dr. Aoki joined Sony as a semiconductor engineer in 1970, became general manager of Sony's semiconductor group in 1983 and went on to various management positions before being named president and chief operating officer of Sony Electronics, a U.S. subsidiary, in 1998. He returned to Tokyo in 2000 to serve as senior executive vice president and executive officer of Sony until 2005. Dr. Aoki was elected as a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers in 2003. He graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1964 and earned a doctorate in material science from Northwestern University in 1970. Dr. Aoki also serves as advisory board member for Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and on the board of Citizen Holdings Co., LTD.
