John Stankey, Group President and Chief Strategy Officer, is responsible for developing the roadmap to maximize AT&T's future growth opportunities, including corporate development, addressing long-term wireless-capacity needs, capital allocation strategies and identifying the best strategic paths for low-growth and non-strategic assets. Prior to his current position, Stankey served as President and CEO of AT&T Business Solutions, where he was responsible for serving AT&T's business customers worldwide, including every Fortune 1000 company and tens of thousands of small and medium-sized businesses. In 2011, industry analysts awarded AT&T numerous top awards for its strategic business services and global network offerings. As head of Business Solutions, Stankey was also responsible for AT&T's network operations organization, including AT&T Labs, engineering, capital planning and IT. Under his leadership, AT&T built the nation's fastest mobile broadband network and by yearend 2011 was carrying 80% of its mobile data on the company's 4G network. Previously, Stankey served as President and Chief Executive Officer of AT&T Operations, Inc. He also has served as Group President-Telecom Operations, where he was responsible for sales, marketing, operations and network for the company's former five regional telecom units. Stankey's other responsibilities at AT&T have included Chief Technology Officer, Chief Information Officer, President and CEO of AT&T's Southwest Region, and President of Industry Markets. In addition to his AT&T responsibilities, Mr. Stankey is a member of the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee, the Cotton Bowl Athletic Association and the Board of Visitors at the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA. A native of California, Mr. Stankey earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles in 1985 and a master's degree in business administration from UCLA in 1991.
