Corrado joined NYSDOT right out of law school in 1983. For 25 years, she worked on construction contract awards at NYSDOT. While there she developed an expertise in aviation issues. When she took the helm of the Major Projects Office in January 2008, she found even more satisfaction in the magnitude of this work. "These special projects don't fit anywhere very neatly, but they are so important. An office like this fills the need for a special group to keep the complex things together and moving," she said. Corrado oversees 24 people throughout the department. The office is involved in multiple-agency projects, such as the Route 9A-World Trade Center endeavor and the Tappan Zee Bridge/I-287 corridor; other efforts are cooperative with NYSDOT regions, including the Fort Drum connector project in Region 7 (Watertown area) and the Peace Bridge in Region 5 (Buffalo area), which also involves the agencies and government of Canada.
