Dr. Matthew D. Miller has worked in schools for the last fifteen years. He is currently the Assistant Head of School at Isidore Newman School in Uptown New Orleans. His work there involves hiring faculty, driving the evaluation process, professional development, curriculum work, and staffing. Prior to Newman, he worked for thirteen years at The Lawrenceville School, New Jersey, as a faculty member, administrator, housemaster, and coach of squash and tennis. He has a BA from Dickinson College in Greek and Latin, a BA and MA from Oxford University in Ancient Philosophy, History and Literature, a MA from The University of California at Berkeley in Ancient History, and an Ed.D from The University of Pennsylvania in Educational Leadership and Management. His research focused on civic engagement among adolescents in New Orleans and social capital as part of the educational experience. He lives in New Orleans with his wife, Mia, and with his two children, Sophia and Grayson.
