Unterman is the founding partner of Rustic Canyon Partners, one of Los Angeles’ leading venture capital firms. Prior to founding Rustic Canyon Partners, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of The Times Mirror Company. Prior to joining Times Mirror he was a partner of Morrison & Foerster and, earlier, Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe. In addition to his Rustic Canyon board service, Tom serves on the boards of CalArts, Heal the Bay, MOCA (Life Trustee), The Natural History Museum, The Courage Campaign and ProPublica. He is also a member of the California State Teacher’ Retirement System and State of California Commission on Access to Justice. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Princeton University before receiving his law degree from the University of Chicago.
