Karen Magee became Time Warner’s Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer on January 1, 2014. She is responsible for corporate human resources, global compensation and benefits, global organization and leadership development, worldwide recruitment and executive search, and diversity. She also plays a leadership role with respect to the company’s shared services initiative, particularly as it affects human-resources-related areas. Ms. Magee served as Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer for Time Warner from 2011 to 2013. She rejoined Time Warner in early 2010 as Senior Vice President, Administration, Shared Services. In that capacity she helped launch and lead the shared services initiative, which is focused on improving the efficiency of support services in Information Technology, Real Estate & Facilities, and other areas. From 2006 to 2009, Ms. Magee was the Chief Executive Officer of PlanetOut Inc., a publicly traded media and entertainment company based in San Francisco. Before joining PlanetOut, Ms. Magee was the Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning for Time Warner, a position she assumed in 2004. In this role, she was responsible for overseeing Time Warner’s strategic planning group, which provided management consulting and business development services to both corporate senior management and the divisions of Time Warner. Ms. Magee joined Time Warner Corporate from Time Inc., where she was Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning. Prior to that, she served in a variety of marketing, finance and general management roles at Time Inc. A graduate of the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Princeton, Ms. Magee served on the University’s Board of Trustees for 14 years. She holds an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
