Aysha E. Schomburg is the President & CEO of the New York Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children. She was appointed to the position in May of 2024, for her extensive background in child welfare policy, her innovative ideas, and her outcomes focused approach to supporting families. Prior to this role, Schomburg served three years with the Biden Administration, as the Associate Commissioner of the United States Children’s Bureau within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In this role, she advised the Administration on matters related to child welfare, including child abuse and neglect, child protective services, family preservation and support, adoption, foster care, and concrete supports for families.
