J. Richard Blankenship was sworn in as Ambassador to the Commonwealth of The Bahamas on November 30, 2001. Prior to his appointment, Ambassador Blankenship served as a partner and Director of the Capital South Group, a Jacksonville, Florida investment banking firm, as President and Chief Financial Officer of St. John's Capital, and as a municipal and government financing officer with Raymond James and Associates of St. Petersburg, Florida. He was a partner in the J. Richard Blankenship & Co. Accounting firm and also served as an accountant with Peat, Marwick, and Mitchell of Jacksonville, and Price Waterhouse & Co., Tampa, Florida. Ambassador Blankenship, who hails from Troy, Alabama, is a graduate of Florida State University, and is married.
