He retired from active duty in 2008 after 32 years of service and in 2009 was recalled from retirement, to serve as the CSM and Senior Enlisted Advisor for the International Security Assistance Force/United States Forces Afghanistan North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Afghanistan (ISAF) Mike Hall is a retired Command Sergeant Major and a decorated combat veteran with over 34 years of service to the US Army and Special Operations. He has decades of real world experience relating to special operations, counter-insurgencies, asymmetrical and irregular warfare. His experiences cover the gambit from the National Command Authority, all the way through the private, on the ground, over the last four decades. “The Best Soldier I have ever known,” is how General (Retired) Stanley McChrystal describes Hall. Hall served over 20 years with the 75th Ranger Regiment; he is the only soldier to have held the senior enlisted position at the Ranger Regiment, the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) and the United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC). He retired from active duty in 2008 after 32 years of service and in 2009 was recalled from retirement, to serve as the CSM and Senior Enlisted Advisor for the International Security Assistance Force/United States Forces Afghanistan North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Afghanistan (ISAF), this force contained over 130,000 Soldiers from 46 countries, during the most dramatic change in strategy and troop increase in the history of the war, under General Stanley McChrystal and later General David Petraeus. He is a veteran of Operation Just Cause, Desert Storm-Phase III, Operation Uphold Democracy, operations in the Balkans, the initial operations of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Hall has been the senior advisor to seven General Officers in time of war and peace. He has attended and passed some of the military’s most mentally and physically challenging schools. After retirement from the Army, he took this experience and applied it to coaching and mentoring executives at a diverse collection of commercial organizations, to include, The Lockheed Martin Company and The McChrystal Group: and as an independent consultant and coach to several CEO’s: and as Chief of Staff, North American Sales, the Scotts Miracle Gro Company. His contributions significantly improved, culture, communication, transparency, strategic planning and operational effectiveness, coaching and mentoring executives to maximize their and their organizations potential. He was awarded the COL Aaron Bank Award for contributing most to the advancement of the objectives and philosophy of the Special Operations Forces, in 2009. He was elected to the Ranger Hall of Fame in 2015. He was honored as the 67th recipient of the Doughboy Award recipient in 2019. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Wounded Warrior Project, and Gallant Few, Inc. An advisor to the Sua Sponte Association, and the Special Operations Medical Association. He is the Executive Director of the Three Rangers Foundation. He currently serves as the Honorary Command Sergeant Major of the 75th Ranger Regiment. Mike grew up in Lorain county, graduated from Avon Lake High School, and is a diehard Tribe and Browns fan. He has been married to Brenda, of Sheffield Lake, Oh, since 1978, and they have one son, Jeff, who is a small business owner.
