Gopal Valji Savjani, founder and president of Ansh Labs, and a noted philanthropist, passed away after a short illness on Friday, Oct. 23 2020, in Houston. He was 77. Gopal immigrated to the United States from India in 1968 and attended the University of California-Berkeley. He has been a resident of the greater Houston area since 1978. Previously, he founded Diagnostic Systems Laboratories in 1981. Gopal was born in a small village in the Indian state of Gujarat to a family with modest means. He was an active member of Chinmaya Mission Houston and the Gujarati Samaj of Greater Houston and a leading member of the Indian American community. He is survived by his wife, Urvashi, and sons, Rajen and Anish. Gopal V. Savjani began Savjani, Inc. in 1990. Principal activities of his company include real estate leasing and financial consulting services. He is the former owner of Diagnostic Systems Laboratories. Mr. Savjani is a well respected philanthropist and contributor to scholarship funds. He also serves on the board of Pratham, USA.
