Ron Nehring, Director of International Training at The Leadership Institute, is a Republican strategist and communications expert who served as National Spokesman in the 2016 Presidential campaign of Senator Ted Cruz. Ron was also the Republican nominee for Lt. Governor of California, and former Chairman of the California Republican Party.. Ron attended the State University of New York at Stony Brook and in 1992, he became the first member of his family to earn a university degree. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed him to the California Board of Forestry and Fire Protection in 2005 in the aftermath of the Cedar Fire, the largest and most destructive wildfire in American history. He served as a Trustee for the Grossmont Union High School District in San Diego County – a large district with 11 high schools, 24,000 students at the time and a budget in excess of $170 million. He chaired the Audit Committee and was a strong proponent of expanding charter schools. Ron Nehring was elected Chairman of the California Republican Party in February 2007. Since his days as President of his College Republican club, Ron Nehring has worked hard to advance Republican ideas and candidates. He managed campaigns for Republican candidates in his home state of New York before moving to Washington DC. In July 2001, Ron Nehring was unanimously elected Chairman of the Republican Party of San Diego County. He was re-elected by acclamation three times (2002, 2004, 2006), serving a total of 5 1/2 years as Chairman. In 2003, Ron Nehring was chosen to serve as President of the California Republican County Chairmen's Association. In 2005 he was elected Vice Chairman of the California Republican Party. From 2004 through 2006 he has served as a Trustee for the Grossmont Union High School District , one of the largest high school districts in California .
