Josh Chapman was born and raised in Maine. Chapman earned a Bachelor of Science from New Hampshire College in 2002. Upon graduation he moved to Washington D.C. to join AmeriCorps where he served students in Southeast Washington D.C. eventually becoming the Education Director for the Metropolitan Police Boys & Girls Club. Chapman moved to San Francisco in 2005 to pursue his Master of Education degree, with a focus on equity and social justice, from San Francisco State University. During his time in San Francisco Chapman was a teacher for a non-profit organization that served students with severe mental and emotional disabilities. In 2010 Chapman moved to South Davis with his wife, Athena, and their two sons Owen and Quentin. As the owner and manager of, Armadillo Music, a family business started by Athena’s father in 1996, Chapman became involved in downtown issues. Chapman served on the Davis Downtown Business Association Board of Directors and was the President of that board for three consecutive years and most recently served on the Downtown Plan Advisory Committee. Chapman also spent part of his time in Davis working for Suicide Prevention Yolo County.
