Susan Thronson is a global marketing leader and strategic advisor to public companies and non-profit organizations. Since 2012, she has served on the Board of Directors for PFLAG National. In 2015, she was elected to the role of Secretary for the Board of Directors. Susan is a member of the PFLAG Palm Springs/Desert Communities (CA) where she supports its transgender initiative. Susan serves as an independent director on two public company boards. She holds the Governance Fellow designation by the National Association of Corporate Directors. She was Senior Vice President, Global Marketing for Marriott International from 2005-2013. In that role, Susan had enterprise-level responsibility for the Marriott portfolio, its 17 lodging brands and consumer engagement platforms, most notably, Marriott Rewards. During her tenure, Marriott Rewards produced over $14 billion in annual revenue for over 3,700 hotels – members purchased over half of all rooms sold in the system. She directed the evolution of Marriott Rewards into a world-class user of actionable consumer knowledge that doubled revenue and membership to over 43 million. Previous roles with Marriott included, SVP International Marketing and VP of International Brand and Operations. Susan developed and executed integrated business strategies to generate profitable revenue and build leading brands on six continents. Prior to Marriott, she was an Account Supervisor for McCann-Erickson Worldwide, based in its Los Angeles and Irvine offices. She is a graduate of the University of Nevada-Reno Reynolds School of Journalism. Susan lives in La Quinta, California with her husband, Steve Thronson, and they have two children attending southern California universities.
