Celina Gerbic

Celina Gerbic served as a Washington, DC Trustee from June 2012 to January 2018, and through the Host Committee led straight ally outreach in 2011 and corporate sponsorships in 2010. She is also the Co-Chair of the Trevor Project’s D.C. Ambassadors Committee and has served since 2010 as the Chair of the Education and Community Outreach Committee. As part of her work for Trevor, she has done outreach to local area schools and community organizations, and has managed the Lifeguard Workshop trainings and volunteer coordination for local opportunities. Celina currently works in development for School for Friends, a Quaker preschool. She also serves on the D.C. Public Schools LGBTQ Steering Committee and worked together with other community leaders to create the Plan for Inclusivity, which was approved in August 2011 and has been implemented in over 30 pilot schools. Celina was formerly a trial attorney focusing on employment discrimination law, and was a partner in a Boston firm, Thornton & Naumes. She was Co-Counsel on Ortiz del Valle v. National Basketball Association, a sex discrimination case, resulting in a trial verdict of $7.85 million. Celina graduated cum laude from Boston University and Boston University School of Law and is admitted to practice in Massachusetts, New York and D.C. Celina was recognized with Boston University’s Young Lawyer Chair Award in 2000 and was named one of Massachusetts Lawyer’s Weekly “Up and Coming Lawyers” in 1998. She serves on Boston University School of Law’s Executive Committee, and has headed the school’s Young Alumni Committee. Celina serves on the Board of UNA (Urban Neighborhood Alliance) as Advisory Committee Chairman, and was the Arts & Entertainment chair of the 17th Street Festival for two years. Celina is also a member of the DC Concerned Providers Coalition. She lives in Dupont Circle in Washington, D.C. with her husband and son.
