Mark C. Scott

Mark Scott was elected Berks County Commissioner in 1996 and in that capacity serves on several County Boards. Prior to his election, he served Berks County as Executive Director of the Berks County Solid Waste Authority and as Assistant Solicitor. His private sector experience includes bank management and entrepreneurship in food distribution. Commissioner Scott received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from DePauw University in 1973, his Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School in 1979 and attended evening classes to obtain a Financial Planning Certification from Farleigh Dickinson University. His experience in law, finance and agribusiness are consistent with Commissioner Scott's emphasis on environmental, law enforcement, taxation and economic development concerns affecting Berks County and the quality of its citizens' lives. Over his four terms in office, he has played a leading role in regional land use planning, farmland preservation, landfill litigation, expanded narcotics enforcement and the investigation of political corruption and white-collar crime. Commissioner Scott resides on a farm in Douglass Township.
