Marjorie M. Scardino is Chief Executive Officer of Pearson, an international education and media group headquartered in London, England, whose primary business operations include The Financial Times Group, Penguin books, Pearson Education, and half of The Economist Group. Before joining Pearson, she was Chief Executive Officer of The Economist Group and, prior to that, she and her husband founded a weekly newspaper in Georgia and won a Pulitzer Prize in 1984 for its editorial writing. Ms. Scardino is a member of the board of directors and vice-chairman of Nokia Corporation, a director of the Carter Center, and a member of the board of trustees of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Ms. Scardino is chair of the Budget and Compensation Committee of the Foundation and also is a member of the Institutional Policy Committee and the Committee on Global Security and Sustainability of the Foundation.
