Actress and filmmaker Jennifer Siebel Newsom graduated from Stanford University and Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. She produced, directed and wrote Miss Representation, an award-winning documentary, which debuted in 2011 at the Sundance Film Festival; in the film, she explored the media’s portrayal of women and girls. Her second film, The Mask You Live In, about masculine stereotypes, was released in 2015. The Great American Lie, her third film, was released in 2019 and focused on social and economic inequality. She is the founder and COO of The Representation Project, serves on the advisory boards for several organizations, and is married to California Gov. Gavin Newsom. Rather than “first lady,” she prefers to be known as “first partner.”
