Linda Bernstein Rubin

Linda Bernstein Rubin is a community leader, actress and producer. Linda graduated from NYU’s Gallatin Division with a Bachelor of Arts and was fortunate to study acting for many years with both Larry Moss and, later, Stella Adler. She appeared in the Broadway production of Dance With Me, directed by Joel Zwick as well as many off-off-Broadway productions. Upon moving to Los Angeles, she was a founding member of Los Angeles Theatre Unit (LATU), a Los Angeles acting troupe, headed by Jules Aaron. Other L.A. credits include: Sympathy by Dana Coen, Heartstopper by Michael Wolk, among others. Linda’s film and TV credits include: The Magician of Lublin, starring Alan Arkin, Cry of Innocence and Dirty Dancing, among others. Until 2005, Linda was a producer for Appian Way Productions, whose mission was to mount West Coast premiers of exciting and theatrical work. Among the plays Linda co-produced were Daniel Therriault’s The White Death, Richard Dresser’s Better Days, Leonore Carlson’s Palladium is Moving, Lynn Seifert’s Little Egypt (starring John C. Reilly and Valerie Mahaffey), Bitter Women by Justin Tanner and Marty Lathrop’s The Visible Horse (starring Wendy Phillips and Eddie Karr). Appian Way earned five Los Angeles Drama Critics’ Circle Awards, 10 LADCC nominations, two L.A.Weekly Awards and 31 Drama-Logue Awards. In 2014, Linda was a Producing Partner with The Geffen Theatre on Ruth Draper’s Women starring Annette Bening. For the past seven years, Linda has been on the Geffen Theatre’s Board of Directors. For the last two years (and again this May 2016), she has co-chaired Backstage at the Geffen, which raises funds for the Geffen’s Educational and Outreach Programs. The past two years, honorees have included Elton John & David Furnish, & George Lucas & Melody Hobson; Billy Crystal & Alan Horn. Linda is co-chair of the Geffen’s Development Resource Committee and is on the Strategic Planning Committee. Aside from her passion for theatre, Linda is a strong advocate and Board Member of both VIP and H.E.A.R.T, a support group of Violence Intervention Program-USC, the first Family Advocacy Center in the U.S. which protects and treats all victims of violence. Linda is a founding member of The Everychild Foundation and has been a longtime member of the Board of Overseers of the LA Phil. Linda is married to businessman Tony Rubin, and they have two children, Jacob (23) and Gena (18), a freshman acting major in USC School of Dramatic Arts.
