Susan Savage and her late husband, Art, brought minor league baseball back to Sacramento after a 23-year absence. In 1999, they purchased a Triple-A franchise in Vancouver, renamed the team the River Cats and moved it into the newly built Raley Field in West Sacramento the following year. They co-owned the team until Art’s death in 2009, at which point Susan became the sole majority owner and CEO.
