Garen Wintemute

Well-known researcher and authority on gun violence Garen Wintemute, an emergency medicine doctor, directs the Violence Prevention Research Program at UC Davis. The program is the first state-funded gun research program of its kind in the United States. Wintemute has worked as a consultant for the National Institute of Justice, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and he’s testified before Congress on gun-related topics. He has researched and published numerous studies on gun violence, including Ring of Fire, about Saturday Night Specials, and How to Stop Mass Shootings.
