Solow is a partner in the Restructuring and Government Affairs groups at DLA Piper in Chicago. Alan Solow is a past chairman the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, having served from January 2009 through 2011. In that capacity, he worked closely with the governments of the United States and Israel to promote a strong relationship. He also met regularly with policymakers throughout the world. Solow also serves as the immediate past chair of the JCC Association (JCCA). He joined the board of the JCCA of North America in 1997 and was elected chair in 2006, serving until 2010. He served as chair of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Chicago from 2005 to 2007, having served previously as Chair of Government Affairs. He received his AB, summa cum laude, form the University of Illinois in 1976 and his JD, cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1979. Solow is a member of the Aitz Hayim Center for Jewish Living in Highland Park, Illinois, and is a builder of Mishkan Chicago. He is married to Andrea Lavin Solow. They have two children and three grandchildren.
