Carole Wilson graduated from Appalachian State University in 1975. She is a retired public school history teacher, she also offered private tutoring for students with disabilities and special needs. Carole previously worked for NC Department of Transportation for 4 years as well. She has served on Appalachians Alumni Council and is a chair member for Campaign for Appalachian, the university's fundraising campaign. Carole Wilson and her husband Brad Wilson donated 3 million dollars to the school which founded the Wilson Scholar Program in the academic year of 2014-2015, providing a full scholarship for first-year students.
